P0190 Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit (bank 1)
What P0190 means
The fuel rail pressure sensor tells the engine computer how much pressure is available at the injectors. P0190 means its electrical signal is missing or invalid. The engine computer may limit power or the engine may not start.
P0190 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Hard starting or no-start
- Reduced power or limp mode
- Stalling
Common causes
- Failed fuel rail pressure sensor
- Corroded or loose connector
- Damaged wiring
- Missing 5 V reference supply
- Engine computer fault (rare)
Can I keep driving with P0190?
You can drive if the engine runs normally, but have it checked within one or two weeks.
What to check first
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring
- Check the 5 V supply, ground and signal at the sensor
- Compare the reading with the engine off; it should be close to zero
- Replace the sensor if wiring is good
