P0575 Cruise control input circuit

What P0575 means

The cruise control switches on the steering wheel or stalk send commands to the engine computer. P0575 means the computer detected an implausible or out-of-range signal from those inputs. Cruise control is usually disabled until the fault is fixed.

P0575 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Symptoms

Common causes

  1. Faulty cruise control switch or stalk
  2. Worn clock spring (steering wheel contact unit)
  3. Damaged wiring or connector at the steering column
  4. Faulty brake light switch on some cars
  5. Engine computer input fault (rare)

Can I keep driving with P0575?

Yes, you can drive; only cruise control is affected. Have it repaired within one or two weeks.

What to check first

  1. Check that the brake lights work, as a faulty brake switch can disable cruise control
  2. Watch the cruise switch inputs in live data while pressing each button
  3. Check the switch connector and clock spring
  4. Replace the faulty switch or clock spring
