P0670 Glow plug control module circuit/open

What P0670 means

The engine control unit cannot properly command or monitor the glow plug control module on a diesel engine. Without it the glow plugs may not heat, making cold starts difficult.

P0670 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Can I keep driving with P0670?

You can keep driving, but have it fixed within one to two weeks, especially before cold weather.

What to check first

  1. Check the glow plug fuse and the module connector
  2. Check the control signal from the ECU to the module
  3. Test each glow plug for a short circuit
  4. Replace the glow plug control module if inputs are correct but it does not switch
