P0497 EVAP system low purge flow
What P0497 means
The engine control unit commanded the purge valve open but did not see the expected change in vacuum or fuel trim. The fuel vapour stored in the charcoal canister is not being drawn into the engine as it should be.
P0497 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.
