P0715 Input/turbine shaft speed sensor A circuit
What P0715 means
The transmission control unit is not getting a valid signal from the input (turbine) shaft speed sensor. Without it the unit cannot calculate slip or time shifts, so it often switches to limp mode.
P0715 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Symptoms
- Harsh or erratic shifts
- Gearbox stuck in one gear (limp mode)
- Speedometer problems on some cars
- Transmission warning on
Common causes
- Failed input shaft speed sensor
- Damaged wiring or corroded connector
- Metal debris on the sensor tip
- Internal gearbox harness or control unit fault
Can I keep driving with P0715?
You can drive gently to a workshop, but have it checked within one to two weeks. Avoid motorway speeds if the gearbox is stuck in one gear.
What to check first
- Check the transmission fluid level and condition
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring
- Measure the sensor resistance or signal
- Replace the sensor or internal harness
