P2014 Intake manifold runner position sensor/switch circuit (bank 1)

What P2014 means

The engine control unit is not getting a valid signal from the sensor that reports the position of the intake manifold runner flaps. It can no longer confirm whether the flaps move as commanded.

P2014 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

  4. Seized flaps damaging the sensor

Can I keep driving with P2014?

You can keep driving, but have it checked within one to two weeks.

What to check first

  1. Inspect the sensor connector and wiring
  2. Check the 5-volt reference, ground and signal
  3. Command the flaps and watch the sensor value
  4. Replace the sensor or actuator assembly
