P2015 Intake manifold runner position sensor/switch circuit range/performance (bank 1)
What P2015 means
The engine control unit sees a runner flap position that does not fit what it commanded, or that moves outside the expected range. Very often the flaps or their linkage are worn or broken, rather than the sensor itself.
P2015 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Reduced power or slight hesitation
- Rattle from the intake manifold
Common causes
- Worn or broken runner flap linkage
- Worn flap shafts in the intake manifold
- Faulty runner position sensor or actuator
- Carbon build-up restricting flap movement
Can I keep driving with P2015?
You can keep driving, but have it checked within one to two weeks.
What to check first
- Inspect the flap linkage and actuator arm for wear or a broken joint
- Watch the position sensor value while commanding the flaps
- Clean carbon from the manifold if flaps are sticking
- Repair the linkage or replace the actuator or intake manifold
