P2017 Intake manifold runner position sensor/switch circuit high (bank 1)
What P2017 means
The engine control unit sees a voltage from the intake manifold runner position sensor above its normal range. It can no longer read the flap position.
P2017 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Possibly reduced power
- Often no noticeable change
Common causes
- Faulty runner position sensor
- Open ground circuit to the sensor
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Corroded connector
Can I keep driving with P2017?
You can keep driving, but have it checked within one to two weeks.
What to check first
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring
- Check the sensor ground and signal voltage
- Look for a short to voltage in the signal wire
- Replace the sensor or actuator assembly
