P008A Low-pressure fuel system pressure too low
What P008A means
On diesels and direct-injection petrol engines, a low-pressure pump in or near the tank feeds the high-pressure pump. P008A means the pressure in that supply side is below what the engine needs. Without enough supply pressure, the high-pressure pump can starve, causing power loss or stalling.
P008A is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Loss of power or limp mode
- Engine stalling or cutting out
- Hard starting or no-start
Common causes
- Weak or failing low-pressure (in-tank) fuel pump
- Clogged fuel filter
- Leaking or kinked fuel supply line
- Faulty low-pressure fuel sensor
- Fuel pump control module or wiring fault
Can I keep driving with P008A?
It is safest not to drive. The engine can stall suddenly while moving; if it already cuts out, stop safely and call for assistance.
What to check first
- Check fuel level and look for fuel leaks under the car
- Compare low-pressure sensor readings with the specification at idle and under load
- Replace the fuel filter if it is due or of unknown age
- Measure actual supply pressure with a gauge to separate a sensor fault from a pump fault
