P0108 Manifold absolute pressure / barometric pressure sensor circuit high
What P0108 means
The voltage from the MAP sensor is higher than the engine computer considers possible, as if the manifold were at or above atmospheric pressure all the time. The computer stops trusting it and uses a substitute value.
P0108 is a generic SAE J2012 code: it means the same on every make. The exact cause still depends on the car, so read the freeze-frame data before replacing parts.

Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Rich running, black smoke or fuel smell
- Hesitation or poor idle
- Higher fuel consumption
Common causes
- Disconnected, split or leaking vacuum hose to the sensor
- Signal wire shorted to the 5 V reference or battery voltage
- Open ground circuit at the sensor
- Failed MAP sensor
- Very low engine vacuum from a misfire or mechanical fault
Can I keep driving with P0108?
You can drive, but have it checked within a week. The engine may run rich, which costs fuel and can foul spark plugs over time.
What to check first
- Check the vacuum hose to the MAP sensor for splits or a loose fitting.
- Check the sensor ground, then unplug the sensor and see whether the signal voltage drops; if not, the signal wire is shorted.
- Check for other faults such as misfires that lower intake vacuum.
- Replace the MAP sensor if hose and wiring are good.
